Our Approach

Three principles guide everything we do — from curriculum design to community partnerships.

Evidence-Based

Every curriculum we offer is grounded in current research and peer-reviewed literature — not opinion, not ideology. We update our content as the evidence evolves.

Built by Practitioners

Our training is designed by licensed clinicians and safety professionals who have worked in the field. The scenarios are real. The tools are ones they actually use.

Community First

We go where the need is. That means working with local organizations, adapting to the communities we serve, and measuring success by what changes on the ground.

About MSI

Where Mental Health Meets Public Safety

MSI was built on a simple premise: the professionals most likely to prevent a tragedy are the ones already in the room — a therapist, a school counselor, a patrol officer, a family doctor. They just need the right tools and the confidence to use them.

We work across healthcare, education, public safety, and community organizations to deliver training that is practical, legally informed, and grounded in respect for the people being served.

Our approach isn't about ideology — it's about outcomes. Fewer crises. Safer homes. Professionals who feel prepared instead of paralyzed.

Firearm Informed Training (FIT)

Most clinicians were never taught how to talk about firearms with their patients. FIT changes that. It's a practical, clinician-developed curriculum that gives healthcare and mental health professionals the language, the legal context, and the confidence to have these conversations — without alienating the people they're trying to help.

FIT covers firearm risk assessment, safe storage counseling, and lethal means safety planning — all through a lens of cultural respect and clinical integrity.
