About
Advancing ethical care through trauma-informed education. The Mind Safety Institute equips professionals to approach firearm-related topics with clinical insight, cultural competence, and compassion.
About The Mind & Safety Institute
The Mind & Safety Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing mental health care through Firearm Informed Therapy—a groundbreaking approach that bridges the gap between responsible firearm knowledge and trauma-informed therapeutic practice.
Founded by Amanda Hardin, a Registered Nurse and creator of Firearm Informed Therapy, and Dr. Kevin Schlegel, an experienced educator and clinician, the Institute was born out of a shared passion: to equip professionals and organizations with the education, tools, and confidence to address firearms and safety within the mental health space—ethically, legally, and compassionately.
